The effects of recoil

The effects of recoil can be seen in this sequence of 16 photographs each taken 1/30th of a second apart. Starting from just before the hammer fell, until just under a half of a second later, after the shot has been fired and the gun recoiled and risen to the maximum of its travel. The revolver used is a .44 calibre black powder reproduction Rogers & Spencer and as can be seen the muzzle flash is of quite short duration: see this sequence in motion.
