This gives an idea of what the business end of a
double barrelled rifle looks like. The gold bead foresight element can be seen, as can the
impressive .50 calibre rifled barrels with the ramrod (used to load the gun) housed
underneath. Note that the barrels are crowned, that is the ends are slightly rebated so as
to afford some protection from accidental damage and also to facilitate loading the
bullets.
