Marple Rifle and Pistol Club badge

    1) We are now open on Fridays between 19:30 and 21:30 for sport / hobby shooting using all types and calibres of rifle and pistol. See Club opening times for more detail.

    2) The latest Club Barbecue was held at the Range on Sunday 11th May 2008, it started at 14:00 with a paella cookery demonstration run by Tony Baena. BBQ food was available from 14:00 along with the usual selection of drinks.

Tickets were £7-50 for adults and £3-00 for children up to age 14. The ticket covered the paella and all the food you could eat (there was a vegetarian choice) as well as tea and coffee. In addition we had an alcohol licence for the day, with beer and wine available at extra cost.

A range of outdoor activities was available, such as the use of crossbows and longbows under the genial gaze of Roy Braddock.

The next Club Barbeque will be on Sunday 10th May 2009, so make a note in your diaries and on your calendars now!

    3) Will all club members please continue to keep me informed of their preferred current email address by posting it to me at: enquiries@marplerifleandpistolclub.org.uk so that an up to date record can be kept. This will make it much easier to quickly disseminate news and other information.

    4) The 2005 edition of the ISSF rules governing all international target shooting is now available for download from the ISSF website (see Links page for the web address). I hope that you are on Broadband because the file is 14 megabytes in size!

5)   Starting in 2004 the Club offerd family membership, to all persons living at the same address. This takes the form of one person paying the full rate annual membership (currently £90 per year) and all others paying a reduced rate of £10.

  6) A special plea to all Ladies to come and have a go at target shooting! At the AGM on Thursday 30 January 2003, the chairman of the club specially pleaded for all members to encourage any ladies that they know to come along and try out the sport. Target shooting is something that men and women can do on equal terms, as physical strength is not an issue.

   7) The club is still looking at the possibility of shooting Section 7 firearms on the indoor range, if you would like to take part, please email the webmaster at: enquiries@marplerifleandpistolclub.org.uk in order to register your interest. At this time the costs and timescales are unknown: watch this page.

Section 7 firearms are those of 'historic' interest and generally, but not always, refer to breech loading guns made before 1919.

To date no interest has been registered by anyone writing by email, so this project looks very doubtful. It is up to the members, if you want it then say so, if not it will fade away.
